I'm Vitaly, a licensed amateur radio operator in North York, Ontario. If you heard me on the air and looked me up, this is the station behind the callsign.

I've spent 18+ years as a Linux/BSD systems administrator and software developer, and I approach radio the same way: as an engineering problem. On HF I work across modes (digital, phone, and CW as it comes along), usually at QRP, on home-built loops and dipoles.

What pulls me in most is the engineering and planning side of EMCOMM: grid-down scenarios, and keeping communications running when the usual infrastructure isn't there. That's turning into a project I'm building now.
